about danielle

As a writer, I'm interested in the forms that push the boundaries of language without losing heart. I love poets like Alicia Ostriker, Bob Hicok, Yehuda Amicahi, and Robyn Schiff; I love lyric essayists like Maggie Nelson, Danielle Dutton, and Elliot Weinberger. These days, I write poems and essays in any quiet hours I can find. I’ll share work I’ve published and work I haven’t published on this site.

As a dialogue facilitator, my mission is to cultivate spaces where we can honor difference and dive into the complexities of identity, belief, and values. It sounds nice—but the gritty, emotional, and difficult work of conversation across true difference requires careful planning and thoughtful facilitation. I’ve worked with international groups, in cross-cultural settings, with youth, with interfaith groups, and in higher education, and I’m a consultant at Essential Partners. During graduate school, I began calling on literary, poetic, and theological voices to study how we speak about the divine (a favorite question of mine). Because of religions' ability to access the liminal part of the human experience, I'm convinced of its beauty and its ability to wield enormous amounts of power. I want to work towards building a world where we are wary of this kind of power while recognizing the beauty of a life lived out of profound convictions.
